It goes a little too in depth for most federal income classes and you will likely have to skip a few sections. I would recommend reading it along with casebook. It would not be helpful a week before the exam.

I used this for a class and it helped me understand the concepts - plus going through at the end of the semester was a great review. I recommend. There are a few things that were slightly inaccurate - but this is probably attributable to how my professor taught this class. Valuable resource.
The author was one of my professors way back in the dark ages. If you say anything bad about him, I will fight you.
A very good treatise for fed tax. I used this book along with the Examples and Explanations... The E&E gives a very basic overview of the issues, while this book goes a step or two into more detail. It's a little complicated at times, but tax is generally complicated.
